Pen Sovan (Khmer: ប៉ែន សុវណ្ណ; born April 15 1936) is a Cambodian politician who served as the Prime Minister of the Hanoi-backed People’s Republic of Kampuchea. He served from June until December 1981 and was General Secretary of the Kampuchean People’s Revolutionary Party (KPRP French acronym ‘PRPK’) from May to December 1981 following his removal from office. Pen Sovan was removed from the KPRP in 1981 and imprisoned in Vietnam until 1991. He returned to Cambodia in 1992.
