Isleño Americans are Americans who descended from Spanish settlers originally from the Canary Islands emigrated to the Spanish colonies of Southern United States in the 18th century. Colloquially the term can also be used to refer to any Canarian person with U.S. citizenship and his descendants in the U.S. This term is to be distinguished from the term Isleños which refers to people of Canarian descent now living in any country of the Americas without distinction.
