1964 was the year of first european success for Internazionale: the European Cup won at the first attempt beating Real Madrid 3-1 in the final in Vienna. Internazionale remained unbeaten during the tournament defeating (in order) Everton Monaco Partizan Beograd and Borussia Dortmund: Sandro Mazzola was topscorer with seven goals including a double against Real Madrid.
