Vyprážaný syr (Slovak pronunciation: [ˈvypraːʒaniː ˈsir]) (literally fried cheese) is a popular Slovak cheese-based dish.A slice of cheese usually Edam or Emmental about 1.5 cm or 05 inch in thickness is breaded with flour egg and bread crumbs and fried either in a pan or in a deep fryer. It is traditionally served with potatoes (fries or boiled potatoes) and a side salad (e.g. tomatoes and cucumbers). The usual complement is tartar sauce (Slovak: tatárska omáčka) or mayonnaise.
