In enzymology an uronolactonase (EC 3.1.1.19) is an enzyme that catalyzes the chemical reactionD-glucurono-62-lactone + H2O D-glucuronateThus the two substrates of this enzyme are D-glucurono-62-lactone and H2O whereas its product is D-glucuronate.This enzyme belongs to the family of hydrolases specifically those acting on carboxylic ester bonds. The systematic name of this enzyme class is D-glucurono-62-lactone lactonohydrolase. This enzyme is also called glucuronolactonase.
