In enzymology a tropinesterase (EC 3.1.1.10) is an enzyme that catalyzes the chemical reactionatropine + H2O tropine + tropateThus the two substrates of this enzyme are atropine and H2O whereas its two products are tropine and tropate. This enzyme belongs to the family of hydrolases specifically those acting on carboxylic ester bonds. The systematic name of this enzyme class is atropine acylhydrolase. Other names in common use include tropine esterase atropinase and atropine esterase.
