Simvastatin (INN) /ˈsɪmvəstætɨn/ is a hypolipidemic drug used with exercise diet and weight-loss to control elevated cholesterol or hypercholesterolemia. It is a member of the statin class of pharmaceuticals. Simvastatin is a synthetic derivative of a fermentation product of Aspergillus terreus.
