Atorvastatin (INN) /əˌtɔrvəˈstætən/ marketed by Pfizer as a calcium salt under the trade name Lipitor is a member of the drug class known as statins which are used primarily for lowering blood cholesterol and for prevention of events associated with cardiovascular disease.
