Shelpek(Kazakh: шелпек; Kyrgyz: май токоч челпек; Uzbek: chalpak/чалпак; Uyghur: chalpyaq/чалпак) is a traditional Kazakh dish it representing a flatbread commonly consumed not only in Astana but all over the country. The main ingredients of the dish are flour milk sugar butter sour cream baking soda salt and vegetable oil.The dough is shaped into balls and fried in hot vegetable oil until reaching a golden color.
