In enzymology an oxalate decarboxylase (EC 4.1.1.2) is an enzyme that catalyzes the chemical reactionoxalate + H+ formate + CO2Thus the two substrates of this enzyme are oxalate and H+ whereas its two products are formate and CO2.This enzyme belongs to the family of lyases specifically the carboxy-lyases which cleave carbon-carbon bonds. The systematic name of this enzyme class is oxalate carboxy-lyase (formate-forming). This enzyme is also called oxalate carboxy-lyase.
