In enzymology an orsellinate decarboxylase (EC 4.1.1.58) is an enzyme that catalyzes the chemical reaction24-dihydroxy-6-methylbenzoate orcinol + CO2Hence this enzyme has one substrate 24-dihydroxy-6-methylbenzoate and two products orcinol and CO2.This enzyme belongs to the family of lyases specifically the carboxy-lyases which cleave carbon-carbon bonds. The systematic name of this enzyme class is 24-dihydroxy-6-methylbenzoate carboxy-lyase (orcinol-forming).
