Nicholas Malcolm Nick Bates was a fictional character in the British Soap opera Emmerdale portrayed by Cy Chadwick. He first appeared on 14 November 1985 and became the fiance of Elsa Feldmann father to their daughter Alice and the best friend of Archie Brooks.
