The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) is the agency responsible for transportation issues and policy in New Jersey. It is headed by the Commissioner of Transportation. The present Commissioner is James Simpson who was appointed in March 2010.As of 2007 NJDOT employs 3842 people.
