Lynn Edythe Burke (born March 22 1943) is an American former competition swimmer Olympic champion and former world record-holder. She competed at the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome where she won the gold medal in women’s 100-meter backstroke in a new Olympic record time of 1:09.3. She won a second gold medal by swimming the backstroke leg for the winning U.S.
