Line 16 is a southern line of the Shanghai Metro network. It was originally designated as Line 21 was planned as the south part of Line 11. This line entirely runs in Pudong District and starts from Longyang Road Pudong District via Huinan Town Shanghai Wild Animal Park the proposed Pudong Railway Station to Dishui Lake Station. The line is 52.85 km long and has 11 stations. Construction begun in early 2009 and the line opened on 29 December 2013.
