In enzymology a glucose-1-phosphatase (EC 3.1.3.10) is an enzyme that catalyzes the chemical reactionalpha-D-glucose 1-phosphate + H2O D-glucose + phosphateThus the two substrates of this enzyme are alpha-D-glucose 1-phosphate and H2O whereas its two products are D-glucose and phosphate. This enzyme belongs to the family of hydrolases specifically those acting on phosphoric monoester bonds. The systematic name of this enzyme class is alpha-D-glucose-1-phosphate phosphohydrolase.
