In enzymology a fusarinine-C ornithinesterase (EC 3.1.1.48) is an enzyme that catalyzes the chemical reactionN5-acyl-L-ornithine ester + H2O N5-acyl-L-ornithine + an alcoholThus the two substrates of this enzyme are N5-acyl-L-ornithine ester and H2O whereas its two products are N5-acyl-L-ornithine and alcohol. This enzyme belongs to the family of hydrolases specifically those acting on carboxylic ester bonds. The systematic name of this enzyme class is N5-acyl-L-ornithine-ester hydrolase.
