The Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF/KPRF) (Russian: Коммунистическая Партия Российской Федерации; КПРФ; Kommunisticheskaya Partiya Rossiyskoy Federatsii) is a communist party in Russia. The party is often viewed as the immediate successor of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union which was banned in 1991 by then-President Boris Yeltsin. It is the second largest political party in the Russian Federation after United Russia.
