Azerbaijanis in Turkmenistan (Azerbaijani: Türkmənistan azərbaycanlıları) are a Azerbaijani diaspora in Turkmenistan and are Turkmen citizens and permanent residents of ethnic Azerbaijani background. Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan took through centuries and both countries used to be the part of Russian Empire and then Soviet Union. As of 1989 there were 33365 Azerbaijanis in Turkmenistan.
