In enzymology an acylglycerol lipase (EC 3.1.1.23) is an enzyme that catalyzes a chemical reaction that uses water molecules to break the glycerol monoesters of long-chain fatty acids.This enzyme belongs to the family of hydrolases specifically those acting on carboxylic ester bonds. The systematic name of this enzyme class is glycerol-ester acylhydrolase.
