5 Persei is a double star in the constellation Perseus located around 1786 parsecs (5830 ly) away. The primary with an apparent magnitude of 6.27 is a blue supergiant of spectral type B5Ia a massive star that has used up its core hydrogen and is now fusing heavier elements. The secondary with an apparent magnitude of 12.4 is of an unknown class.
