In enzymology a 4-hydroxybenzoate decarboxylase (EC 4.1.1.61) is an enzyme that catalyzes the chemical reaction4-hydroxybenzoate phenol + CO2Hence this enzyme has one substrate 4-hydroxybenzoate and two products phenol and CO2.This enzyme belongs to the family of lyases specifically the carboxy-lyases which cleave carbon-carbon bonds. The systematic name of this enzyme class is 4-hydroxybenzoate carboxy-lyase (phenol-forming).
