The 2001–02 S.L. Benfica season involved Benfica competing in the Primeira Liga and the Taça de Portugal. Benfica failed qualification for the European competition’s by finishing 6th in the previous Primeira Liga.In the Primeira Liga Benfica was always an irregular team never assuming as serious contender for the title although it wonder by second place in October/November 2001.
