The 1974 SCCA/USAC Formula 5000 Championship season was the eighth season of the Sports Car Club of America’s premier open wheel racing series. It was the first year under the Formula 5000 name coming incidentally during the final year of the original Can Am Series thus contributing to the final year of the SCCA’s golden age. The L&M sponsorship was dropped.
