In enzymology a 15-hydroxyprostaglandin-D dehydrogenase (NADP+) (EC 1.1.1.196) is an enzyme that catalyzes the chemical reaction(5Z13E)-(15S)-9alpha15-dihydroxy-11-oxoprosta-513-dienoate + NADP+ (5Z13E)-9alpha-hydroxy-1115-dioxoprosta-513-dienoate + NADPH + H+Thus the two substrates of this enzyme are (5Z13E)-(15S)-9alpha15-dihydroxy-11-oxoprosta-513-dienoate and NADP+ whereas its 3 products are (5Z13E)-9alpha-hydroxy-1115-dioxoprosta-513-dienoate NADPH and H+.This enzyme belongs to the family of oxidoreductases specifically those acting on the CH-OH group of donor with NAD+ or NADP+ as acceptor.
