It is approximately 470 light years from Earth.The primary component ξ2 Centauri A is a blue-white B-type main sequence dwarf with an apparent magnitude of +4.27. Its companion ξ2 Centauri B is a tenth magnitude yellow-white F-type dwarf. The two stars share a common proper motion indicating they may be gravitationally bound.
