Xavier Sala i Martín (also Sala-i-Martin in English) (born June 17 1962 in Cabrera de Mar (Catalonia Spain) is a Catalan-American economist and currently a professor at Columbia University.Sala i Martin earned his degree from the Autonomous University of Barcelona in 1985 and his Ph.D. from Harvard University in 1990 both in economics.
