Woodilee Hospital situated in Lenzie East Dunbartonshire Scotland opened on 22 October 1875 as Barony Parochial Asylum. Originally housing 400 inmates the asylum expanded to 1250 capacity by 1930 making it the largest psychiatric unit in Scotland.[citation needed]
