The Wisconsin gubernatorial election of 2006 was held on November 7 2006. Incumbent Democratic Governor of Wisconsin Jim Doyle ran for a second term as Governor. Doyle was unopposed in his party’s primary and he faced United States Congressman Mark Green who won the Republican Party primary unopposed in the general election. The campaign between Doyle and Green was competitive and hotly contested but Doyle had the upper hand due to the fact that his approval ratings hovered around 50%.
