The Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska is one of two federally recognized tribe of Ho-Chunk people. The other Ho-Chunk tribe is the Ho-Chunk Nation of Wisconsin. The name Winnebago comes from an Algonquin term People of the Filthy Water.
