William Mair Cushing (October 25 1853 – January 5 1925) served as the first mayor of the Village of Elkhorn in Manitoba after its incorporation on January 2 1906. This first mayoral election was extremely close and Cushing defeated his opponent W.J. Thompson by a single vote.Cushing had also served as the Reeve of the Rural Municipality of Wallace for one term in 1892.
