West Germany vs France was a FIFA World Cup semi-final match that took place in the Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán in Seville Spain. In this game West Germany won the first penalty shootouts in World Cup finals after having trailed by 2 goals in extra-time with French player Patrick Battiston was knocked unconscious after an unpunished challenge from German goalkeeper Harald Schumacher. It is also known as the Seville night in most countries.
