Wellington John Thompson (September 2 1869 – October 5 1937) publisher magistrate and notary served as the ninth mayor of the Village of Elkhorn. Born in Caledonia Haldimand County Ontario to William D. and Phoebe Thompson Wellington John received his education at Tillsonburg and arrived in Elkhorn in 1892. He took over publication of the local newspaper the Elkhorn Advocate in 1893 and continued its publication until 1910.
