Vietnamese people in Japan (在日ベトナム人 Zainichi Betonamujin) formed Japan’s eighth-largest community of foreign residents in 2004 ahead of Indonesians in Japan and behind Thais in Japan according to the statistics of the Ministry of Justice. The majority of the 26018 Vietnamese legal residents live in the Kantō region (13164 people or 50.6%) and Greater Osaka (5289 people or 20%).
