In enzymology a vanillate monooxygenase (EC 1.14.13.82) is an enzyme that catalyzes the chemical reaction + O2 + NADH + H+ + NAD+ + H2O + formaldehydeThe 4 substrates of this enzyme are vanillate O2 NADH and H+ whereas its 4 products are 34-dihydroxybenzoate NAD+ H2O and formaldehyde.This enzyme belongs to the family of oxidoreductases specifically those acting on paired donors with O2 as oxidant and incorporation or reduction of oxygen.
