In enzymology a valine decarboxylase (EC 4.1.1.14) is an enzyme that catalyzes the chemical reactionL-valine 2-methylpropanamine + CO2Hence this enzyme has one substrate L-valine and two products 2-methylpropanamine and CO2.This enzyme belongs to the family of lyases specifically the carboxy-lyases which cleave carbon-carbon bonds. The systematic name of this enzyme class is L-valine carboxy-lyase (2-methylpropanamine-forming).
