The 1964 presidential election was the last election in which the state of Idaho voted for the Democratic Party nominee and the only election since 1948 in which this happened. President Lyndon B. Johnson despite his nationwide landslide victory defeated the Republican nominee Senator Barry Goldwater of Arizona by only 1.84% or 5363 votes.
