The cultivar Ulmus × hollandica ‘Hillieri’ arose from a chance seedling at Hillier’s Pitt Corner nursery near Winchester England in 1918. It is a pendulous cultivar not to be confused with Ulmus × hollandica ‘Jacqueline Hillier’ which also has a shrubby habit.
