Spain who defeated Germany 1–0 to win Euro 2008 successfully defended their title with a 4–0 win over Italy becoming the first team to win two consecutive European Championships and the first team to win three consecutive major tournaments – Euro 2008 the 2010 World Cup and Euro 2012.
