In enzymology an UDP-N-acetylmuramate dehydrogenase (EC 1.1.1.158) is an enzyme that catalyzes the chemical reactionUDP-N-acetylmuramate + NADP+ UDP-N-acetyl-3-O-(1-carboxyvinyl)-D-glucosamine + NADPH + H+Thus the two substrates of this enzyme are UDP-N-acetylmuramate and NADP+ whereas its 3 products are UDP-N-acetyl-3-O-(1-carboxyvinyl)-D-glucosamine NADPH and H+.This enzyme belongs to the family of oxidoreductases specifically those acting on the CH-OH group of donor with NAD+ or NADP+ as acceptor.
