In enzymology a tryptophan alphabeta-oxidase (EC 1.3.3.10) is an enzyme that catalyzes the chemical reactionL-tryptophan + O2 alphabeta-didehydrotryptophan + H2O2Thus the two substrates of this enzyme are L-tryptophan and O2 whereas its two products are alphabeta-didehydrotryptophan and H2O2.This enzyme belongs to the family of oxidoreductases specifically those acting on the CH-CH group of donor with oxygen as acceptor.
