In medicine transfusion related acute lung injury (TRALI) is a serious blood transfusion complication characterized by the acute onset of non-cardiogenic pulmonary edema following transfusion of blood products.Although the incidence of TRALI has decreased with modified transfusion practices it is still the leading cause of transfusion-related fatalities in the United States from fiscal year 2008 through fiscal year 2012.
