Trans-Australia Airlines or TAA (renamed Australian Airlines in 1986) was one of the two major Australian domestic airlines between its inception in 1946 and its sale to Qantas in September 1992 (official date September 14th 1992 when Qantas Airways Limited handed over the sum of $400m (AUD) for the entire assets of Australian Airlines Limited including regional subsidiaries.
