Trachoma (Greek: τράχωμα ‘roughness’) also called granular conjunctivitis Egyptian ophthalmia and blinding trachoma is an infectious disease caused by the bacterium Chlamydia trachomatis. The infection causes a roughening of the inner surface of the eyelids.
