Tony Connor (born John Anthony Connor Manchester U.K. 1930) is an English poet and playwright.After leaving school at fourteen Connor served in the Royal Army as a tank gunner and later worked as a textile designer and in radio and television in Manchester in the 1960s. From 1971 until he retired in 1999 Connor was professor of English at Wesleyan University in Middletown Connecticut. He lives in Middletown and London. He was a close friend of the English writer J.G.
