The Tony Conigliaro Award is a national award instituted in 1990 by the Boston Red Sox to honor the memory of their former star Tony Conigliaro. It is given annually to a Major League Baseball (MLB) player who best overcomes an obstacle and adversity through the attributes of spirit determination and courage that were trademarks of Conigliaro.Conigliaro debuted with the Red Sox in 1964 and was selected to the MLB All-Star Game in 1967.
