The Thessaloniki–Svilengrad railway is an about 620 km long railway connecting Thessaloniki in Greece with Svilengrad in Bulgaria via the cities Serres and Alexandroupoli. At the Strymonas station there is a connection towards Sofia and at Pythio there is a connection towards Istanbul. As of 2012 there is only passenger service on the section in Greece between Thessaloniki and Dikaia as the international services to Sofia and Istanbul have been suspended.
