The 2012 edition of The Headies (formerly called The Hip Hop World Awards) hosted by M.I and Omawumi was held at the Eko Hotel and Suites in Victoria Island Lagos on October 20 2012. It was sponsored by MTN one of Africa’s largest telecommunication companies. The aforementioned hosts thrilled fans with their song titled The Headies. Chidinma the winner of the 2010 MTN Project Fame opened the show by performing her song Kedike.
