Teresa Blankmeyer Burke is an Assistant Professor of Philosophy at Gallaudet University. She is the first signing Deaf woman in the world to receive a doctorate of philosophy having conducted her graduate education through American Sign Language.Her work primarily focuses on deaf philosophy (the intersection of philosophy and Deaf studies.) Her primary interests lay in areas such as virtue ethics moral justification and the ethics of signed language interpreting.
