Tabriz köftesi (Kofta (Koufteh) Tabrizi) is an Azerbaijani -Iran recipe for big meat balls from north west of Iran from the city of Tabriz. The ingredients are ground beef rice yellow split peas leeks mint parsley onion and Iranian spices. Etymologically the word kofte in Azerbaijan Turkish means rounding or ball. Some believe that the word is derived from kūfta: in Persian kuftan (کوفتن) means to beat or to grind.
